The Lions Beach Shipwreck is more precisely 2 tugboat wrecks that lie next to each other at a depth of approx. 50 meters. The ships sank on top of the reef edge and then slid down the slope. The trench that was created can still be clearly seen. At the top are the propellers that have been torn off. You can have the Lion Beach diving club take you there by boat or snorkel there (a bit difficult). Bottles (including NITROX) are available from the diving center, and you can drive there directly to unload and load (let us know at the barrier).
The dive site is one of the most beautiful on Curacao, the reef shoulder is very lively and that alone is worth it.
The best way without a boat is (with normal current east to west) to board directly at the diving center and swim the canal to the east. Unfortunately, there is usually a countercurrent. Then dive through the surf and to the right (west). Always stay on top of the shoulder at about 6 meters until the first propeller comes with a shaft. From there further west, about 3 minutes, the second screw comes in a ditch. This straight down. At 50 meters then the boats. When going up (if the current is east to west) to the west! further and circumnavigate the island. At the western tip, at a depth of 5 meters, there is a peephole where you can frighten visitors to the aquarium. You can also dive through a tube and then emerge. Possible with 2 bottles, the 2nd is best filled with Nitrox because of deco, takes about 2 hours.
Attention: Due to currents and surf, only suitable for very experienced divers.
