Playa Grandi is a small fishing port in a beautiful bay. You can park right by the sea, there is a small snack stand and a toilet. The special thing here is that there are almost guaranteed to be turtles in the water (right in the shallower area in front of the reef). They are waiting for fish waste from the boats. The best time is around 8-9 a.m. after the boats come back from fishing. If there are cruise ships there, they often make a day trip to see the turtles, because you can also meet them while snorkeling, which is another reason to dive here in the morning (around 10 a.m. the water can boil …).
The reef itself is relatively close (approx. 50 meters) and gently sloping to approx. 40 meters and has many sponges. A large Neptune statue can still be admired slightly to the right at a depth of approx. 8 meters.
You have to watch out for boat traffic (stay deep enough), a buoy when diving makes sense here. Entry at the boat ramp (not on it, it’s slippery).
